Research

Our current research projects primarily relate to:

  1. Aphasia treatment studies in which we investigate variables related to the best treatment outcomes (i.e., dosage of treatment, type of treatment, inclusion of cognitive or metacognitive strategies, inclusion of homework, etc.)
  2. Understanding the way the lesioned brain responds to various aphasia treatments using fMRI
  3. Investigations of what the home environment looks like for people with aphasia compared to an age-matched population without brain injury
  4. Making the home environment more conducive to language rehabilitation for people with aphasia (i.e. working with caregivers, modifying the auditory environment)
